It must officially be spring here: yesterday was the first of our weekly football matches played outdoors this year! It's so nice to be able to play out in the "fresh air" - or at least in the sun. It's also fertilizing and planting season, unfortunately, so the smell of manure is back in the air.
My father/former soccer coach will think that some things never change when I mention that I'm easily distracted by my son and dog on the sidelines, as well as the lammetjes in the pasture next to us.
Playing outdoors means a larger pitch, however, and I don't remember ever getting tired so quickly during our indoor matches. This would be funny if it wasn't so true.
The "aroma" of manure can't be much different from that of the "stuff" that gets sprayed around the golf courses here-Mom and I are still stuffed up. Also, ignore the side-line distractions, focus on the action on the field, AND BE AGGRESSIVE!!!!!!!
Love, Papa
P.S. Give Aldus a really big smoochie after each game.
