We seem to have struck some sort of care package / baby-shower-in-a-box pay dirt! First came the two boxes from our parents filled to the gills with stuff for the baby. Washing the baby clothes alone made up an entire load of laundry in itself. Witness Exhibit A (click for a larger view):
And then came the packages from my best friend Amanda and from BJ Vandenbelt (Coffee House guy Scott's mom). We've inventoried the items from these four packages together and have decided that not only will the baby never have to be naked, we might not ever actually have to do laundry to keep it in clean clothes!
Witness Exhibit B, the care package inventory:
- audio/video baby monitor (thanks, Ahbuhji!)
- 1 Snugli carrier (thanks, Aunt Alice!)
- 3 undershirts
- 17 onesies
- 1 romper with matching bib
- 7 pajamas/creepers
- 2 sleeping gowns
- 1 hat
- 12 pairs socks
- 2 pairs scratch mittens
- 2 bath capes
- 5 washcloths
- 3 bibs
- 10 flannel or waffle receiving blankets
- 1 HANDMADE receiving blanket (thanks, Auntie BJ!)
- 3 lap pads
- 4 toys/rattles
- 1 teddy bear
- 1 George & Martha collection of short stories (thanks, Aunt Amanda!)
- diaper pins
- Caldesene powder
- A&D ointment (wow - childhood flashbacks! i could sniff that stuff ALL DAY!)
- Mylicon Drops
- Motrin Infants' Drops
- 2 pacifiers
- nasal aspirator
- digital thermometer
- soft-bite spoons for infants
- comb & brush set
This doesn't even include the items we received from my parents at Christmas or last month, or the gifts from our coworkers. We even received some goodies for ourselves! Jiffy cornbread mix, seasoning packets for tacos, burritos and chili, a variety pack of Johnson & Johnson Band-Aids and two copies of Real Simple magazine. Woo hoo!
What a great reminder that even though we're far away, we're still surrounded by all these people who love us and are thinking of us. What a great way to bring a baby into the world!
I think that photo of all the tiny clothes drying is probably one of the most precious things I've ever seen. : )
