Not long after we moved here I got some klompen (wooden shoes), mostly just for something to slide on when I go out to throw seed at the chickens or to work in the garden. They're certainly not the most comfortable or stylish things in the world, but they do the job.
Charles recently decided that he also wanted some klompen to wear out in the garden. So at the market in Diever on Tweede Paasdag (second Easter day), Charles bought a pair of his own.
Handsome, isn't he? And he's started to wear them to the grocery store.
This post was written while listening to Charles read passages from The Omnivore's Dillemma.
Only biology students wear them, here in Groningen.
