Back in the States I had a habit whenever we saw horses. It involved shouting, nay squealing with delight like a five year-old girl. "HORSIES!" And it was just one more reason Charles was really (really really really) glad we lived in Michigan and not in Tennessee.
The habit became short-lived when we moved to Diever; we probably wouldn't have been able to drive more than a kilometer in any direction without me exclaiming "HORSIES!" or "PONIES!" Thank god my delight didn't extend beyond the equine makeup of local farms.
Until now.
The baby sheep have arrived.
They started appearing just a week ago. One, usually two, lambs for each ewe. With short, fuzzy wool not yet dirtied by the pasture mud, they reply to their mothers' baaing with tiny little bleats and they spring about after each other, inspecting mud piles and nibbling on grass. They are so damn cute it's criminal.
Until now, being surrounded by so many sheep has been a lovely, daily reminder of our trip to Ireland last year. Now that the lambs have arrived, I know I'll associate sheep with the Netherlands. And now I squeal "BABY SHEEP!" every kilometer on the drive to and from work.
There are photos in the "Spring in Diever (2007)" photo album on the right. Enjoy!
They are so freaking cute!

These baby sheep are much cuter than the ones I worked with in Arkansas. Cleaner too! Isn't it funny how the mothers sound like old grumpy men when they bleat?
That foal is gorgeous!
Yay spring and baby animals!

Wanted to comment on the BABY SHEEP, but couldn't think of anything cute to say because nothing is cuter than the BABY SHEEP, except the baby that is coming in May.
