Charles and I got back from London somewhat late last night. We had a really nice visit with Michelle & Ali. Our gracious hosts met us at the airport with a sign for "Mr. & Mrs. M. Ball." Too funny. I guess I'll actually have to explain the Meatball reference at some point, but not in this post.
We didn't actually do a whole lot over the weekend, which was fine since the main goal was just to hang out with our friends. We did eat some great food: cheese, antipasti and soup (Charles' chowder was better than my spiced pumpkin) at La Fromagerie; modern Indian at The Painted Heron; dim sum at New World Chinese; gelato at ... uh ... some place in Kensington; and drinks at Harvey Nichols bar in Knightsbridge. The bartenders even made me a great alcohol-free pomegranate martini. The drink itself was probably not worth the amount we paid for it, but I was happy to pay the price to feel like I was out on the town in a real city again.
Last but not least, I actually bought some basic maternity clothes at Mothercare. None of this crazy Dutch clothing for me -- just plain corduroy pants, jeans and long-sleeved t-shirts with no prints, graphics, ruffles, appliques, extra zippers, fur trim or anything. Ahhhhhh. (Thanks again for the help, Michelle!)
Gelato was at Oddono's, on Bute Street in South Kensington :)
It was so fun to hang out with you two in London! Here's to the next vanderYunquist get-together.

Oh, how I would pay money to see you wearing a shirt with prints, graphics, ruffles, appliques, extra zippers AND fur trim (faux, of course).
