This is the kind of social life I miss back home! (Sorry, Mom & Dad. But I really do like a good Scotch. Neat. And deviled eggs with blue cheese and bacon dip sounds really good.)
This New York Times article may require registration, but it's free and they've never sent me any spam.
mmmmm. scotch *drool*
i've been full of macallan's 18 year this week. yum. (i love expense budgets).
but the article commits a cardinal, perhaps unforgiveable, sin. scotch should never be served on the "rocks". it would be similar to putting ice cubes into a glass of vintage wine.
a few drops of water is okay to "wake" up the scotch. but most, if not all, scotch should be imbibed "neat" with a glass of water on the side as an option.
that's my humble opinion. hmph!

Agreed! I'll take my water on the side.

I can agree that an aged single malt is not the best place for ice and soda, but a blended Scotch or bourbon is a fine place to park some soda. That said, it's your Guilder, do as you please to your Scotch.
