We had one of our typical dinner parties the other night. We invited more people than we have chairs or place settings for and made Dutch pancakes. At least we think we made pancakes. We bought pancake mix and made them like we've had them at the local pancake house here (with ham and cheese or fruit baked right in, served with stroop, dark brown sugar and powdered sugar on the side).
Most of our guests were other ex-pats from the U.S., Germany, Romania, Portugal and Poland. But we also made the mistake of inviting a Dutch co-worker who brought his girlfriend Jvonne and daughter Elisa. I'm not entirely sure what we did different, but apparently Jvonne said, "That was good. We should try making them that way sometime."
